Who We Are

About Us

We are a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) registered with the Office of the Register of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC).

We are based in Dubbo and are supportive of programs and projects across the Central West and Orana regions.

We are committed to empowering Aboriginal people, families, and communities in self-determination and connections to land, water and spiritual identity.

Guided by culture, kinship, and connection to Country, we deliver programs that support healing, resilience, and self-determination.

Our work spans community wellbeing, homelessness and housing support, youth and family services, cultural mentoring, advocacy, and partnerships that strengthen opportunities for Aboriginal people.

Walan-Mayiny means “Strong People” — and our mission is to walk alongside community to create safe, healthy, and thriving futures for the next generations.

We aim to assist in the relief of poverty, sickness, destitution, helplessness, distress, suffering, and misfortune, among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, through the process of supporting social and economic development.

We operate community activities, projects and enterprises and build a strong financial base for community development activities and infrastructure.

We promote community development by acting as a resource for the community and stakeholders in the areas of education, health, housing, justice, employment and welfare to the community.

We facilitate the exchange of information and skills, participation and maintenance of community development activities, community services, employment and housing for the community.
